ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Manager of Investment Analysis, you willl lead a team accountable to perform timely, detailed, accurate, and fulsome financial analysis in support of the Company's development, and mergers and acquisitions activities. You and your team will produce the required financial information to conduct high-impact analysis and deliver recommendations that drive critical decisions around strategic investments in support of the Company's growth strategy and ambitions.
In this highly visible role, you'll apply thought leadership, business judgment, project management, and financial expertise to translate growth strategy into financial analysis, plans, targets, and decisions. You'll be responsible for developing and ensuring the accuracy of financial models that support strategic decision making and you will partner with senior leadership across the organization to deliver on priorities that open new markets, drive growth, and improve business returns.
This role will report to senior leadership and will partner cross-functionally across the organization, and is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead an Investment Analysis team that provides timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial analysis for business development and M&A activities;

Identify and prioritize key business issues and actively take initiative to deliver impactful solutions;

Structure and advance complex financial and decision-making models to develop meaningful insights and actionable recommendations;

Develop and maintain the necessary business models to support the ongoing evaluation of investment decisions including post-investment reviews;

Monitor and improve current processes and ensure financial valuation best practices;

Establish and cultivate strong relationships throughout the organization at all levels;

Deliver and craft high-quality presentations for senior executives and Boards of Directors;

Create an environment of high performance within the Investment Analysis team;

Ensure that employees are connected, motivated, and engaged in their roles;

Be a known and credible voice in the development and implementation of strategic decisions with the Investment Analysis team and cross-functionally throughout the organization;

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Company's business including value drivers and risks.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Advanced Degree and/or professional designation in finance, economics, or business;

CFA designation preferred;

Minimum of 7 years in Investment Analysis, Corporate Planning, Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Consulting;

Well-developed understanding of valuation techniques;

Electricity industry experience or familiarity with the industry is a benefit

Expert-level Excel skills required;

Highly analytical but also willing to take action, driving pragmatic and sound solutions to complex problems;

Self-starter, with a strong ability to work with minimal direction and to set effective project plans;

Skilled at influencing, communicating, and building relationships across all disciplines of the company, especially skilled at setting and managing senior leadership expectations;

Ability to set priorities and drive results for a high-performing team;
