Job Brief

SRP's Generation Engineering department has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer.  The position provides Engineering and project management services to our fleet of generating facilities.

Job Responsibilities

    Performs engineering analysis, design and engineering studies.
    Performs as engineering project leader.
    Performs field engineering work
    Performs and/or assists in troubleshooting and inspection of power plant equipment or systems.
    Prepares scope documents, condition evaluations, and risk assessment reports.
    Prepares specifications and evaluates bids.
    Coordinates, oversees, and reviews work performed by contractors, consultants, and SRP personnel.
    Performs peer review of documents, designs, and calculations.
    Reviews drawings and work of others for accuracy.
    Participates is training, industry events, and shop visits.
    Out of town travel will be required from time to time.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or any state or internationally recognized PE registration.

Experience

Experience with power plant systems and equipment is preferred.

Five (5) years full time experience actively engaged in engineering practice. Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.  Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Additional Information

    • Responsible for project development, scoping, Engineering calculations, recommending and tracking budgets, schedules, creating technical specifications, construction oversight and commissioning of projects. Works with suppliers of equipment and services. Travel to SRP facilities is required.  Occasional travel to suppliers facilities, industry organizational functions, training and conferences.
