About The Position

Ameren Missouri Strategist supports the Ameren Missouri President's Chief of Staff with communication and execution of strategic priorities for Ameren Missouri and the President. The MO Strategist assists with the preparation of presentations and other communications from the President to the Board of Directors and internal and external stakeholders, as well as supports the Chief of Staff in their obligations as a liaison between the President and Ameren business segments and assists on various internal and external stakeholder teams. In addition, the MO Strategist supports the AMO Business Planning process, including strategy development, execution oversight and performance monitoring, ensuring plans are aligned to the Ameren Strategy and key priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide key information to the Chief of Staff and President to help facilitate effective decision making.
  • Provide communication to the Ameren Missouri Senior Leadership Team regarding goals, deadlines and expectations. Ensure leadership has all the materials and information needed to manage the business.
  • Collaborate with AMO stakeholders to support the planning and execution of segment-wide strategic engagements including all-hands meetings, people leader meetings, panel discussions, etc. This may include leading and facilitating aspects of these engagements.
  • Assist in preparation (as appropriate) of presentations, Board of Director materials & talking points, speeches, letters, and e-mails for the President in partnership with Corporate Communications, which requires continuous review and understanding of segment and corporate information regarding all aspects of the business.
  • Assist with select projects and initiatives at the request of the Chief of Staff. Manage and prioritize highly confidential projects, including identification of risks and opportunities.
  • Keep the Senior Strategist (if applicable), Chief of Staff and President's Executive Assistant apprised of issues and concerns that may arise within the operation to help mitigate and respond (as appropriate) and be prepared for upcoming commitments and internal/external engagements.
  • Partner with Ameren's Corporate Communications department to ensure President-related communication is consistent, accurate, and enhances the Ameren external brand.
  • Work directly with senior leaders to refresh the Ameren Missouri business plan, focusing on our key strategic priorities. Partner with stakeholders and leaders across Ameren to ensure there is consistency and collaboration across the different segments.
  • Monitor and track progress toward strategic objectives, identify obstacles, and collaborate with leaders at all levels to establish remediation steps when appropriate.
  • Support planning and execution to drive AMO's culture strategy, including co-worker development, engagement action plans, and DE&I initiatives.
  • Act as part of Ameren Missouri's Emergency Operations Center response team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, finance, strategy, communications, or related discipline.  Five or more years of relevant business experience is required. Direct experience leading strategy development and supporting senior leaders is preferred.  Three or more years of experience may be considered for those with an advance (Masters)/relevant degree.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Must have strong credibility with executive-level leaders. Proven business acumen with strong decision-making, problem solving, analytical and computational skills with proven ability to lead others.  Ability to communicate effectively through public speaking and written documents.  Strong organizational skills, with ability to build relationships and interact with internal resources and external stakeholders. Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Word.
