The Fleet Planning Advisor position is a significant role for all Fleet Planning, Budgeting, IMM Allocations, and GRC activities. In addition, it performs vehicle total cost of ownership analysis, repair vs. replace analysis, and replacement cost modeling work and makes fleet management recommendations to senior management.

The successful candidate will serve as a fleet asset management advisor to the TSD Business Account Managers, Managers, Principal Managers and Director by performing in-depth fleet asset analysis and making recommendations to the Business Account Managers on the best financial options available with respect to fleet performance. Working closely with the Business Account managers the Fleet Planning Advisor will work to develop client presentations and participate in client meetings as an advisor when making critical fleet expenditures, quantifying fleet life cycle costs, and developing the appropriate replacement criteria supported by historic data, facts, and analysis. Mastery and in-depth knowledge of fleet total cost of ownership analysis, utility fleet equipment, and SAP cost accounting is expected. 

This position supports a growing fleet of 6,700 assets with $1B replacement value and $150M annual operating costs that must be electrified to meet CA advanced clean fleet requirements over the next decade. Also, an estimated $400M fleet charger capital construction plan.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright! 

  • Develops and maintains the SCE annual fleet replacement plan. This includes benchmarking the industry and setting the fleet replacement criteria applied in the annual business plans.
  • Develop the annual fleet budget, fleet budget recommendations and analysis. This will include analyzing prior year performance against plan, key budget drivers, planning assumptions, and criteria to make recommendations to senior management on the 5-year budget.
  • Performing fleet asset management analytical reviews on each of the major fleet cost categories to make management recommendations to drive TSD towards Q1 cost, utilization, and fleet availability performance.
  • CARB Compliance lead to plan compliance driven fleet replacement requirements. Recommends and maintains low-use compliance assets. Performs CARB reporting requirements. Automates fleet monitoring to ensure compliance. Produces management reports on CARB compliance and recommendations.
  • Develops the Fleet Electrification Plan to outline fleet charger requirements. Optimizes fleet replacement plans to ensure charger utilization and navigate any charger construction delays for circuit expansions.

Qualifications

The Essentials 

  • Seven years of analytical work experience handling business financial data.
  • Experience in a transportation or vehicle related fleet asset management role.
  • Experience with fleet budgeting.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Office Suite skills (Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

The Preferred

  • B.S degree or higher in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or similar field.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience working with T&D Planning Functions.
  • Experience with life-cycle costs, total cost of ownership, lease financial impacts, vehicle residual values, and recommendations (management, staff, suppliers).
  • Good problem-solving skills for troubleshooting field issues, work functionality, and designs.

You should know

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.
