Job Specifications
Responsible for the day-to-day management of Black Hills Energy's (BHE) natural gas engineering technical standards, company standards, materials, and distribution integrity management plans (DIMP) and procedures. Administering DIMP and the BHE O&M based upon PHMSA and state regulations s, and industry best practices. Provide support, interpretation, and guidance to BHE teams regarding standardization and best practices encompassing standards and materials. Oversee the Gas Engineering Standards and Material Standards committees to foster discussions and clarification to operating and technical manuals. Collaborate with TIMP Manager to analyze, measure, and improve system integrity risk. Partner with Operations, Regulatory, and Natural Gas System Safety to promote viable projects to reduce risk.
PAY RANGE: $108,200 - $178,650 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manage diverse teams of professionals in support of BHE across the enterprise.
- Work with gas operations to monitor, analyze and develop strategies mitigations distribution risks.
- Measure, monitor, and assure adherence to distribution integrity plans.
- Grow, foster, and continuously improve asset risk program.
- Ensure standards and procedures align with Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) according to API 1173
- Work with gas operations to monitor, analyze and develop strategies to mitigate threats across the Natural Gas Utilities (NGU).
- Manage document changes through approval process for review and publishing.
- Accountable for Material Standards program to include failure reporting, tracking, and process approval.
- Responsible for the strategic growth of Material Standards to ensure only necessary and qualified materials are utilized in support of capital projects.
- Provides day to day technical support and problem solving to operations personnel, advises on standards, pipeline safety regulations and provides research on a wide variety of technical topics.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and mentor the development of individuals within the team.
- Support safety, diversity, and social responsibility goals of the department, business unit, and corporation.
- Develop and maintain partnerships within the natural gas industry to stay abreast of impactful items to Black Hills Energy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum of (5) five years of operations or engineering experience including some managerial experience is required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated technical and operational expertise.
- Experience with NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers).
- Knowledge of DOT, PHMSA, AMSE, API and all codes associated with gas system operations.
- Understanding of the role of Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) in safety for customers, coworkers, and communities.
- Demonstrate good technical, financial and operations knowledge.
- Demonstrated strategic and operational planning.
- Ability to manage projects and programs of varying scale simultaneously.
