Become a Customer Grid Edge Product Strategy Senior Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll be primarily responsible for maintaining technology and product road map for CGE/AMI (Advance Metering Infrastructure) 2.0 solution and conducting technology feasibility assessment on the selected use cases for CGE program based on technology maturity and vendor adoption. This position will also be responsible for guiding vendor discussions towards developing cost effective and SCE specific requirement-based AMI and Grid edge solutions that includes metering and non-metering applications.

  • Build partnerships with the vendors, standard body organizations (ANSI, IEEE, DLMS, Wi-Sun, OpenFMB etc.) industry associations and other likeminded utilities to drive adoption of open standards and interoperable solutions to develop non-proprietary metering and grid edge solutions. Conduct ongoing technology road mapping activities to further refine technology strategy within the smart metering and smart grid chip development space.
  • Collaboratively work with peers within the customer grid edge integration team, product strategy team, and various other internal SCE stakeholders to develop business requirement documents, system architecture documents, and technical specifications and requirements document. Translate business requirements into technology implementation plan with focus on reducing complexity and enhancing cybersecurity.
  • Lead engineer for drafting business and technical questionnaire for administering RFI/RFP for the proof-of-concept product development, field testing and production units. Support procurement activities, vendor evaluation, vendor interviews and initiate collaboration and product development discussions.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or technical field
  • Ten years of experience in engineering role
  • Experience with AMI metering or grid sensing technologies including communication, industry standards and applications.
  • Experience with technical requirements development

The preferred

  • Master's Degree in a technical field
  • Experience with utility enterprise and/or grid information, meter technologies and data management systems
  • Experience with electric grid planning, operations, and apparatus
  • Experience with advanced analytics and machine learning

You should know 

  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
