The Meter Data Technologist is responsible for the daily operation and performance of various Meter Data Collection and Management Systems; analyze, review and validate billing data for smart and interval metered customers, collect, validate and manage suite metering accounts; liaise with external service provider and provide guidance to field crews to troubleshoot meters; analyze and conduct technical diagnosis of potentially faulty meters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and maintain the performance of the various meter data collection and data management systems
- Maintain the operation of retail, FIT/MicroFIT and wholesale settlement processes including acquisition and validation, editing and estimating of interval data, monitoring for settlement irregularities, processing the Net System Load Shape and Weighted Average Price and support reconciliation of wholesale electricity billing
- Troubleshoot and resolve data acquisition issues with the wireless network using network specific software, e.g. Connexo Netsense, PrimeRead and MV-90
- Load validation and ensure the data management system is collecting accurate and complete reading data
- Maintain and monitor meter data management system and initiates appropriate action to achieve desired system performance
- Analyze load profile interval data, Time-Of-Use framing and ensure the energy consumption is accurate
- Support Customer Service through the provision of interval data via web presentment, file transfer or direct customer contact
- Assist with the registration, commissioning, auditing, and performance testing of condominium suite meter installations
- Assess and diagnose meters and meter installations for problems that may affect billing integrity
- Provide direction and guidance to the Certified Meter Mechanic/Testers during field operations to solve technical issues
- Support the development of complex billing processes and assist with the completion of complex billing calculations
- Assist in the design, evaluation, commissioning and maintenance of metering equipment
- Liaise, consult and co-ordinate with internal and external parties, for the installation, analysis and communication of suite meters
- Resolve critical data management production problems, work with information technology and vendors to implement approved corrections or improvements to systems including software upgrades and all of the user and performance testing to approve for production
- Develop, maintain, update and complete reports, work procedures, records and documentation related to the position, as necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree or college diploma (Engineering or Electrical Technologist focus preferred);
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge of relevant software packages, including Connexo Netsense, PrimeRead, MV90 and/or IEE (Itron Enterprise Edition)
- Demonstrated advanced ability in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Understanding of Advanced Metering Infrastructure technology and systems
- Knowledge of IESO Market Settlement regulations, including Market Rules
- Knowledge of utility billing practices, OEB and Measurement Canada regulations, and IESO wholesale metering
- Experience and knowledge with meter installations including wiring, current and potential transformers, hardware, programming and electrical theory
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical single line diagrams
- Understanding of telecommunications, Wireless 4G LTE, wireless mesh networks and various data communication protocols
- Experience with managing projects (budgeting, estimating, scheduling and reporting)
- Ability to multi-task, with strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
- Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
