GIS Team Lead - Grid Investment Support - Geographic Solutions and Services
Reports to: Distribution Support Supervisor
Location: 755 Jefferson St., Atlanta, GA. 30318. Candidate must live in or be willing to relocate to a commutable distance from 755 Jefferson St.
Grade Level: Exempt 5
Job Summary: GIS plays a vital role in Georgia Power's strategic direction, technology plan and daily operations. In addition, GIS is the source data and asset repository of land, distribution, and lighting facilities; as well as, the foundation for current and future application development. The GIS Team Lead will be responsible for the supervision and work direction of GIS specialists within Geographic Solutions & Services. This position will provide daily work direction to a team of three to five direct reports providing GIS support for Grid Investment Program within Power Delivery. This position will also be responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of this team in DistGIS, DistView, and other GIS applications; as well as, coordinating the input, processing, and maintenance of Distribution data in accordance with the Geographic Solutions and Services work procedures and Southern Company GIS Data strategy.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Associate or bachelor's degree is a preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geography, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Geomatics/Mathematics is a plus.
Experience
-
Five years of GIS experience is required.

Three years of electric utility GIS experience is required.

Electric distribution operations experience is preferred.

Southern Company GIS Distribution experience is a plus.

Applicant should have a strong knowledge of electrical utility distribution systems and its equipment including primary and secondary line equipment.

Knowledge of Distribution field construction, processes, and tools which include but not limited to and DistView are strongly preferred.

Experience working with an Oracle or GE Outage Management Systems such as TCMS or IDMS is a plus.

Experience working with supplemental staff and agencies is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Clear understanding of the relationships between Distribution field processes and tools to data management within the GIS model.

Strong interpersonal skills with proven leadership competency in the areas of communication and business execution.

Working knowledge of DistGIS, DistView, JETS, and strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

Willingness and aptitude to learn data analytics and productivity tools within the Microsoft suite including but not limited to Power BI, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.

Ability to lead a diverse workforce, maximize team effectiveness, set clear expectations, and hold others accountable for those expectations.

Ability to train others in a one-on-one and team environment, as well as mentor others.

Proven ability to be adaptable with strong decision-making skills.

Ability to perform queries and create specialty maps.

Familiar with data manipulation techniques which may include but not limited to shape files, spreadsheets, data reporting, etc.

Ability to analyze spatial data and compile detailed reports if necessary.

Working knowledge of the GPC supplemental worker policy as well as other GPC corporate policies.
