This position is Remote. Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate's ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities. The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position: AK, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories, or international work locations. AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate's expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP's staffing needs.

Part of a larger team delivering technology solutions to address business problems and opportunities. Focus on translating specific business requirements into technical solution architectures including application architecture, integration architecture, data architecture, and non-functional requirements around supportability, resiliency, security, etc. Translate general business requirements and business trends in architecture patterns and technology ecosystems including data center architecture, application architecture patterns, integration architecture patterns, technology standards, non-functional technical requirements, and computing paradigms.
Essential Job Functions are listed below:
- Assess current and future IDaaS and Privilege Access Management security programs. Provide recommendations for improvement and ensure the implementation of controls meet the business goals.
- Lead and direct IDaaS and PAM initiatives to provide continuous improvement to security operations supporting policy development and apply technical expertise to achieve business objectives, manage risk/threats and security compliance (NERC/SOX).
- Experience with regulatory & compliance requirements related to NERC/CIP, SOX for identity and access governance
- Drive the development and maintenance of technology and architecture standards, policies and guidelines related to AEP's enterprise IDaaS, delegated access administration & password reset platforms for identity and access management.
- Exhibit strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Using IT security best practices, create high level end to end solution designs, facilitate project estimates to align with business vision, with emphasis on supportability and scalability.
- Help leaders and their teams think through technology as well as business and operational implications of technology investment decisions.
- Build trusting relationships and work collaboratively across teams, system integrators, job families, and levels of leadership to accomplish complex goals.
- Designs and delivers solutions to meet advanced business needs.
- Investigates and clarifies business unit pain-points, addresses issues.
- Develops and communicates solutions with options, leveraging standard reference architectures, design patterns, technology guidelines and standards.
- Produce all architectural solution and project deliverables without assistance
- May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Minimum Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
NOTE: This position will be filled at the experience and salary grade level commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate as compared to the minimum requirements stated below. Architect
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience:
- 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Architect Senior
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience:
- 6 years of relevant work experience is required.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Physical demand level is Sedentary
Other Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in technical project management with knowledge of system security requirements, designing, integrating, and supporting Cyber Ark implementations
- 3+ years of experience developing design documentation and solution presentations
- 3+ years of experience Privileged Access Management Experience with Cyber Ark, including working with components such as Enterprise HA Vaults, CPMs, accounts, policies, safes, usages, and providers.
- Implementation of Cyber Ark related use cases for the adoption of new technology, standards, and processes.
- Self-directed and dependable to produce high-quality work in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the development and unity of the teams work on
- Bring strong technical decision-making skills to the team
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in creating and implementing a technology/security roadmap
- Experience in cloud security (Azure and/or AWS)
- Experience in API management information security design and solutions
- Team player with good interpersonal skills with a track record of implementing large scale IT security projects
- Experience working with developers to improve CI/CD pipelines regarding secrets/password management
- Knowledgeable of security and systems standards, Access Management, Authorization/ Permissions Management, Network Protocols, System management applications, and System & Network Security.
- Experience working with various authentication methods for various platforms such as Windows, Unix, Active Directory, LDAP, TACAS, RADIUS, SAML, Network devices, databases, and storage systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and remediating failures of password rotations, password malfunctions, account creations, account changes, scheduling, etc.
