What you will do:

  • Act as the Electrical Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and resolve operational and/or reliability issues with the turbines and Balance of Plant Equipment.

  • Lead the development and refinement of operational documentation and engineering standards for Wind and Solar facilities including DGA analysis, cable testing, Wind and solar facilities design etc.

  • Collaborate with Engineering team members and Plant Managers to ensure Balance of Plant (BoP) maintenance activities are performed adequately.

  • Collaborate with Plant Managers, Turbine Vendors and Consultants to perform arc-flash assessment of Wind facilities in North America.

  • Coordinate, collaborate and lead turbine electrical and communication systems root cause analysis and reliability improvements.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with various external stakeholders, Enbridge’s Control Center, and consultants to lead changes to existing monitoring and SCADA alarming protocols.

  • Expand your reach by getting exposure of providing engineering support to asset based installed in various jurisdictions such as WECC, SERC, TRE, NPCC, IESO and AESO.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Required specialization: Electrical)

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience as an Electrical Engineer or Specialist supporting BoP activities.

  • Strong Electrical background to perform necessary engineering maintenance and field trouble shooting activities.

  • Experience with review and analysis of protection system design, its operation and coordination activities. Detailed understanding of turbine electrical and communications systems is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work with applicable SEL and GE software to perform protection system review or changes.

  • Must be familiar with applying applicable CSA/IEEE/ANSI Standards for medium & high voltage equipment and NETA standards for testing related activities.

  • Experience with Type 3 and Type 4 wind turbine generators including its controls, converters, and auxiliary electrical components such as switchgear and turbine transformer.

  • Familiarity with EasyPower or ETAP considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with up to 25% travel to field locations and industry conferences.

  • Travel will be required for training and other company business.

  • Environment is fast paced, and work based with competing deadlines to support aggressive operating reliability and cost goals.
