CenterPoint Energy is looking for an Emergency Preparedness & Response Director to join our Field Services Team, located in Houston, TX.
You will have the ability to: responsible for leading and providing strategic direction for the company's Emergency Preparedness and Response (EP&R) team. Oversees the development of plans and actions that mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from for various incident types that may impact an electric and natural gas utility. Responsible for the centralized administration and coordination of EP&R and business continuity planning for the company. Ensure change management processes are followed, including maintenance of the EP&R and Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) plans, change control, management of employee rosters and the identification and remediation of gaps in EOP/EP&R plans. Oversees planning and facilitation of annual EOP/EP&R drills, tabletop exercises and after-action reviews to be communicated to multiple levels in the organization, including senior leadership. Continuously identify and coordinate training needs associated with emergency response.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Set the short- and long-term strategic vision for EP&R organization.
- Responsible for the development and execution of metrics and organizational goals that support the corporate strategy and communicating these goals to various levels of leadership, including senior level management.
- Responsible for collaboration and alignment across functions to execute the emergency preparedness and response and business continuity planning goals and objectives.
- Oversees the administration and coordination of emergency operations preparedness and response and business continuity planning for the company.
- Accountable for the results of key performance indicators and goals for emergency preparedness and response organization.
- Builds and maintains relationships with industry peers and industry organizations to understand industry trends and best practices; makes recommendations and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Knowledgeable of all applicable regulatory requirements and impacts to EP&R.
- Responsible for governance structure for EP&R plans and processes and how those interact with other plans.
- Knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and understanding of how to operate and Emergency Operation Center (EOC).
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the EP&R team included but not limited to change management, documentation repository, maintenance of storm rosters for the company, creation of ICS job roles and responsibilities, updates to EP&R manuals, process and procedures and update of the emergency operations intranet page.
- Oversees the planning and facilitation of disaster drills, exercises, and after-action reviews.
- Performs analysis of EP&R process, results of drills, exercises, and after-action reviews to identify gaps; makes recommendations for improvement, develops new plans as needed, and tracks completion progress of open items.
- Responsible for the identification and execution of training needs for various EP&R roles and coordinates development, assignment and tracking of training requirements.
- Responsible for the development and management of the EP&R budget and adherence to financial plan.
- Familiar with the National Incident Management System or Incident Command System.
- Attend industry conferences and events.
Your background includes:
- Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Requires ten (10) years of functional experience, specifically in disaster and emergency planning.
A bonus to have:
- Certification as an Emergency Manager.
- Emergency planning for utility experience in an organization utilizing the Incident Command System.
