Key Responsibilities
Supervises Staff Supervises team of nuclear security technicians responsible for the security administration and physical security monitoring of PGE's Trojan Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI); provides daily supervision of team, ensuring that all relevant standards/procedures are followed. Assists ISFSI manager in coordinating the activities of PGE and/or contract employees in the areas of emergency planning, engineering, licensing, radiation protection, maintenance, environmental monitoring and quality assurance to support ISFSI activities and meet commitments.
Incident Response/ Emergency Coordination Ensures appropriate assessment and corrective and protective measures are taken; augments resources as necessary; notifies local, state and federal government agencies; requests company support and/or local offsite assistance; and terminates ISFSI emergency and initiates recovery activities.
In absence of ISFSI manager, serves as emergency coordinator. Classifies the emergency, directs overall emergency response, authorizes onsite protective measures and directs communications with state, county and federal authorities.
Safety Leadership Continually promotes and enforces personnel safety and protection practices.
Licensing Prepares changes to ISFSI licensing documents, policies, programs and implementing procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, licensing requirements and personnel safety policies for manager approval.
Financial Management Monitors and manages expenditures, ensuring that all financial targets are met, and examines any areas where budgets/expenditures vary from plan; assists with the definition and operation of effective financial controls and decision making.
Resourcing Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for team; partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.
Professional Development Reviews organizational development needs and training strategies to determine required learning and development outcomes for the team; provides guidance in the creation of development plans; monitors ongoing progress and provides coaching and mentoring and provides feedback; completes annual performance management reviews.
Education/Experience/Certifications
Education Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences or other related field or equivalent experience.
Experience Prefer eight or more years of nuclear facility experience.
Certifications, Licenses and Training Maintains qualification as a Certified ISFSI Specialist. Maintains qualification as a 72.48 evaluator. Maintains qualification as an Independent Safety Reviewer.
Other Must be 21 years of age or older.
