PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under general supervision performs all duties of a Journeyman Lineman and in addition, responsibly directs two man or three man crews.
Works all types of construction and maintenance on dead and energized structures, equipment, conductors and control apparatus used in the transmission and distribution of electric energy.
Responsibly enforces the safety rules, including the determination that proper clearance and grounding, for the protection of his crew.
Interprets prints, carries out work order assignments, prepares daily time sheets, material requisitions, continuing property records, field reports and inspection reports as required.
Maybe required to work a varying degree of hours during day or night, other then the hours indicated above.
Directs the work of and instructs others assigned to assist him. Performs other necessary clerical work incidental to the job.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Must have one year as a Journeyman Lineman, or must have had other training or experience equally acceptable to this Company.
- Requires a valid CDL and a DOT Physical. Must be willing to work extra/irregular hours.
- Must possess a considerable degree of skill or acumen in order to regularly perform semi-routine work by following standard methods of procedure.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of electrical fundamentals as related to the construction, maintenance and operation of transmission and distribution conductors, structures, equipment and control apparatus on the Company's or customer's properties.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the Company's electrical switching and tagging rules, and ground procedure.
- Ability and willingness to perform physically challenging tasks for extended periods of time (for example, climbing poles, ladders and scaffolding; entering/exiting manhole covers; bending; twisting; kneeling; crawling; pulling/pushing; standing; walking; and squatting).
This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on the incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.
