Job Description
This is a Hybrid position of both Cyber Security and Security Information Technology duties under Design Engineering at Cook Nuclear Plant.
- Design Engineering Security Information Technology is responsible maintaining site physical security IT equipment including radios, security computer, and the badging and access control.
- Design Engineering Cyber Security is responsible for ensuring controls required by NEI 08-09 are implemented for digital systems and components at Cook Nuclear Plant.
- Responsible for moderate-scale security assignments with limited direction from senior team members.
- Develops and maintains necessary documentation of security systems, projects, and/or processes to ensure unified understanding of system details.
- Participates in the review, evaluation, and recommendation of emerging security technologies.
- Assists in gathering, investigating, and analyzing security requirements, processes, and incidents.
- Demonstrates problem solving, decision-making, and functional area knowledge.
- Participates in security projects/initiatives; directs security assignments.
- Administer and maintain an Advanced Information Management (AIM) Security Computer System that guards and controls access to a Nuclear Power Plant. Serve as administrator to the Personnel Access Data System (PADS) used for access to nuclear plants.
Job requirements/Tasks:
Performance of duties may involve work in hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within the limits prescribed by the NRC. Good working knowledge and skills of the following, but not limited to:
General:
- Actively participates in team initiatives and meetings by preparing, making contributions, and following through on agreements.
- Develop and present documents and reports clearly, concisely, and effectively.
- Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to security problems that involve analysis of inadequate or conflicting data.
- Maintains an awareness of time constraints for work activities; makes appropriate adjustments when needed.
- Manages time and resources efficiently to accommodate multiple assignments. Some travel /OT may be required.
- Establishes recommendations based on options presented.
Desired IT Knowledge/Skills:
- Windows Operating Systems
- Virtualization
- Fundamental understanding of network architecture and configuration
- Basic knowledge of Oracle databases and SQL Server
- Scripting (Batch files, PowerShell scripts, etc.)
- Familiarity of Active Directory and Group Policies
- Security Event and Information (SIEM) systems
- Antivirus
- Vulnerability management
- Radio Systems
Other:
Knowledge of the following is preferred but not required:
- Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) specifically Section 10 CFR 73.54
- Familiar with regulation 10 CFR 73.54 and frameworks NEI 08-09 and NEI 13-10.
- NERC-CIP compliance
- Linux operating system knowledge
Licenses/Certifications:
- CISSP and GCIH or other Security certification helpful but not required
- Technical Cyber Security certifications preferred, such as SANS GIAC, CISSP, EC-Council CEH, CompTIA Security+ but not required

Minimum Requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR SECURITY SPEC:
- Bachelor's degree OR Associates degree with one year relevant experience in system administration/help desk/security (cyber or physical)
- OR High School Diploma/GED with 2 years relevant experience in IT system administration/help desk/security (cyber or physical)
- OR graduation from an approved Cybersecurity Program; alternatively may have non-degree qualifications (such as hands-on demonstrated ability in a technical interview/assessment).
No additional experience required in addition to experience identified above.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Some travel and overtime may be required.
- This position could be required to do shift work or be "On call" 24x7x365.
- SOC/CIRC: Work shifts that rotate throughout month/year covering all possible schedule variations/rotation possibilities.
- SOC/CIRC: Plan activities effectively within the context of round-the-clock, shift operations.
- Physical demand level is Sedentary

- OR 1 or more years of security related experience, which may include military/government work experience in addition to any experience identified above.
