Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (*essential job functions)
Proficiently performs all the duties of a corrosion technician. Leverages a strong understanding of the cathodic protection database for troubleshooting and system improvement. Promptly and accurately troubleshoots inadequate readings effectively remediating problems on the cathodic protection system. Leads corrosion technicians in complex troubleshooting, rectifier maintenance, and remote monitoring unit maintenance. Instructs testers and trainees in large scale or complex corrosion mitigation field tests and the correction and mitigation of problems. Responds to calls to investigate complex problems on site of excavations. Determines extent and severity and recommends appropriate corrective measures with proficiency and efficiency. Installs, operates and repairs appurtenances such as rectifier installations, deep well anodes, ground bed anodes, test wires, resistance bonds, test stations, and instruments with proficiency. Supports the effort to train new corrosion technicians. Performs quality audits of contractors and corrosion techs. Supports efforts to verify inspection records meet compliance requirements. Leads small teams and special projects. Subject to overtime, emergency call-in, and outdoor work in all types of weather.

Knowledge:
Demonstrated ability to understand cathodic protection systems (installation, inspection, maintenance and repair).
Demonstrated ability to understand remote monitoring units.
Demonstrated ability to work with equipment associated with corrosion control work including voltmeters, metal detectors and software
Demonstrated understanding of federal and state corrosion regulations and demonstrates the ability to diligently document regulatory records
Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency understanding maps and maintain records
Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully with company personnel and customers
Demonstrated proficiency using a personal computer and associated software
Demonstrated ability troubleshooting corrosion jobs
Demonstrated ability to work on DC rectifiers
Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving standards.
Demonstrated ability to write, speak, read, comprehend and communicate clearly and accurately in the English language.
Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime, if and when required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.

Education/Experience:
Over two years' experience performing corrosion testing and troubleshooting and successful completion of NACE CP1 Tester Certification OR at least four years' experience performing corrosion testing and troubleshooting and successful completion of Appalachian UG Intermediate Certificate is required.
