CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Lead Continuous Improvement Consultant to join our Continuous Improvement Team, located in Houston, TX.
You will have the ability to: The Lead Continuous Improvement Consultant identifies, plans, participates in, and leads Lean Continuous Improvement projects that align with the organization's enterprise-level strategic initiatives around revenue, cost, quality, and service. Independently, the consultant expertly leads a variety of functional elements of the Continuous Improvement organization, such as program management, business unit planning, coaching, employee development, and event facilitation, training, or strategic development of CI roadmap. The consultant understands business processes in a wide range of organizational areas and uses structured process improvement and problem-solving methods that will add sustainable value, as well as aid the business in implementing various lean practices such as visual management, standard work, streamlined workflows, daily improvements, and end-to-end process optimization projects. The consultant works cooperatively with cross functional leadership teams and department leaders to seek improvements and solve specific problems along with defining and delivering the value proposition. The consultant is capable of pro-actively building on prior projects to identify and extend improvements in related areas. Furthermore, the Lead CI Consultant will provide leadership to their respective team utilizing interpersonal skills, coaching, and technical expertise.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Understand the corporate strategic plan to evaluate and determine improvement opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional teams to create standardized processes and implement continuous improvement in support of business unit plans.
- Be a change agent and champion of a continuous improvement culture focused on waste elimination across the organization by expertly using and teaching lean methods, processes, and tools, such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Analysis, Structured Problem Solving, etc.
- Work with the business to develop and implement high level and detailed key performance indicators to track progress relative to key metrics and lead the design of methodology to support planning process to execute events that align to achieving business targets.
- Lead, manage, and coach others to develop reliable measurement methods and communications tools to report results.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of data produced and results reported; accept accountability and work cohesively in a team environment that stresses attention to detail.
- Develop, review, and coach others to create project charters for process improvement efforts including defining project requirements, scope, baseline metrics, resources, team members, deliverables, and project and task owners.
- Use and teach others financial acumen to ensure priority actions are focused on driving the right improvements in the business, impacting the bottom line.
- Train and coach others on the implementation of visual management and processes for regular review.
- Train and coach others to re-design processes and procedures demonstrating expert analytical skills and creative solution planning.
- Present solution to peers and management for review, comment, and approval, overcoming barriers and addressing concerns.
- Perform periodic "go and see" activities and data collection for the purposes of understanding improvement opportunities in designated area.
- Be the expert problem solver, with focus on training and coaching others to build capabilities on the lean continuous improvement methods and principles as a trusted business resource.
- Perform and review financial and cost-benefit analyses at an expert level using a wide variety of analytical tools and methods.
- Develop business cases and project plans using company standards.
- Demonstrate excellent business acumen in communications, behavior, dependability, and teamwork.
- Continually work with leadership to ensure continual progress is being made in all production areas to affect lean systems and culture.
- Coach others to ensure 30, 60, 90-day Kaizen reviews are proactive and completed in a timely manner.
- Manage schedules and provide updates assuming multiple concurrent assignments.
- Regularly develop and add to own skills, and mentor and develop lesser experienced members of team.
- Lead and contribute to continuously improving tools and methods utilized by Continuous Improvement.
Your background includes:
- Bachelor's degree required, engineering, operations research, business, finance, technology, or organizational management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification required
- Project Management Professional Certification preferred
- M.B.A or Professional Engineering License will be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
- Minimum 6 years in lean methodologies, process improvement, project management, financial analytics, agile and/or relevant experience in utility industry, and equivalent education and/or advanced degree taken into consideration.
