PSE's Policy & Energy Supply team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Hydro Operator position!

Job Description

The Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Project is PSE's oldest power-generating operation and the world's first completely underground power plant. More than a century after its construction, the facility still produces clean, cost-effective electricity for PSE customers. In addition, the hydroelectric project's public park and trails have for decades been one of the Pacific Northwest's most popular scenic destinations, drawing approximately 2 million visitors annually to view the majestic, 270-foot waterfall. In 2013, the facility completed a four-year redevelopment, which included substantial upgrades and enhancements to the power-generating infrastructure and public recreational facilities.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Primary duties are to operate and inspect equipment associated with Power Plant Operation.
  2. Additional duties include minor maintenance and maintenance when plant is shut down or otherwise out of service.
  3. Direct the activities of others as assigned.
  4. Be responsible for time reporting, station logs and other reports as required.
  5. Must be within range of communications equipment at all times during duty periods.
  6. Operators may be required, depending on facility, to respond within thirty (30) minutes to the power plant to perform any required duties. Company housing is not available at this time.
  7. Perform similar and incidental duties as required.
  8. This position responds to plant emergencies and contains some irregular work schedules and overtime hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicant must be a Hydro Electrician, Hydro Mechanic, or its equivalent and be proficient in using the tools and equipment of the trade as related to hydro-electric work.
  • Must have working knowledge of operational, mechanical and electrical fundamentals as pertains to utility systems.
  • Must have organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with Company personnel, Service Providers, Contractors, other utilities, State and Federal agencies and the public when applicable.
  • Must attend training sessions and successfully complete formal training as furnished by the Company and others.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a First Aid, CPR and AED Certificate each within 30 days. Training will be provided.
  • This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) with air and other necessary endorsements. Training will be provided.
  • Employees must have a working knowledge and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices, procedures and State and Federal regulations as they pertain to the job.
