BHE GT&S is seeking an exciting Sr. LNG Technician located at our LNG Operations facility in Jacksonville, Florida.
BHE GT&S is an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, that became a standalone subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy in November 2020. We operate more than 5,560 miles of gas transmission line and 756 Bcf of underground storage in the eastern U.S., along with gathering, processing and field services businesses. We operate in 12 states. BHE GT&S is an industry leader in liquefied natural gas solutions, through initiatives such as Pivotal LNG and our 25% operating stake in the Cove Point LNG facility in Lusby, Maryland. The energy we deliver supports major distribution utilities, power plants and manufacturing. Our premier storage operations provide dependable, flexible support for direct customers and neighboring pipelines. At our multiple interconnects - especially the liquid South Point hub - BHE GT&S services support both producers and consumers, ensuring competitive access to abundant energy. As an LNG / Sr. LNG Technician, this position maintains and operates liquified, natural gas, plant equipment and facilities.
This includes:
- Engine driven, reciprocating, natural gas compressors and ancillary equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, filters, instrumentation and controls, etc.), piping, boilers, valves, storage tanks, reciprocating air compressors, auxiliary generators, and heaters.
- Performs installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of computer systems and microprocessor-based controls.
- Installs, calibrates, performs preventive maintenance, and repairs hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and air-monitoring equipment and instruments.
- Tests, repairs, and maintains regulatory and measurement equipment.
- Trains and/or assists less- experienced Technicians.
- Maintains and operates liquified, natural gas, plant equipment and facilities.
- This includes engine-driven, reciprocating, natural gas compressors and ancillary equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, filters, instrumentation, and controls, etc.), piping, boilers, valves, storage tanks, reciprocating air compressors, auxiliary generators, and heaters.
- Perform installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of computer systems and microprocessor-based controls. Installs, calibrates, performs preventative maintenance, and repairs hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electronic, air-monitoring equipment, and air monitoring instruments.
- Operates and maintains LNG barge and tanker loading systems and equipment.
- This is a 24/7 facility. Working a rotating shift will be required.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:
LNG Technician
At least 3 years related plant operating and maintenance experience.
Senior LNG Technician
At least 5 years' related plant operating and maintenance experience.
Both Levels
Effective communication skills. Computer skills sufficient for operating, programming, and auditing databases and other applications.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of analytical chemistry and laboratory concepts and techniques, particularly as they relate to analytical techniques for high-purity water.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of environmental regulations.
Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to demonstrate analytical and deductive reasoning skills, laboratory skills, oral and written communication skills, instrumentation skills, and mathematical skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment or process problems.
Ability to conduct site inspections or walk downs, including working at heights.
Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license.
Maintains specialized equipment (e.g., CO2 Analyzers, Moisture Analyzers, and Gas Chromatographs).
Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings including electrical and control schematics, P&IDs, and piping drawings.
Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Work Identification Credential) upon employment.
Must be able to work outside and in a noisy environment.
Must be able to do the following: Walking, climbing, and lifting.
Education Requirements
Education Level: Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate;
Other Education: Mechanical, Electronic or related field
