Reporting to the Director of Operations Advanced Technology, this position will be responsible for managing the teams delivering continuous improvement, capacity improvements, new technology and automation solutions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs for incumbent manufacturing processes. Also responsible for developing new processes for new product development and successfully launching into production.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
Manage Manufacture Engineers and automation engineers through the preparation of detailed project process plans with estimated project task hours, costs, and timelines for development and production launch. Direct and coordinate engineering resources to complete tasks and projects on time, and on budget.
Manage Automation engineers to assess automation opportunities, create innovative equipment designs to streamline manufacturing processes and solve complex problems.
Manage resources for sustainment activities related to automation processes. This primarily includes leading, managing, and/or actively participating in troubleshooting and problem solving with manufacturing in a multi-shift, multi-site operation.
Oversee the research and development of new manufacturing equipment / software, processes, policies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions. Improve manufacturing processes through review of all engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and adherence to engineering standards and project schedules. Review new product design and work with design engineering to identify areas for improved product manufacturability, reduced manufacturing cost, and improved process reliability.
Oversees the development of manufacturing processes and equipment concurrent with new product development insuring product performance specifications, cost targets and timing are achieved.
Strategically plan the automation roadmap for operations transformation from manual process to automation.
Hire, train and mentor engineers and support staff to work to their full potential. Maintain department quality and performance metrics. Write performance reviews and solve departmental issues.
Review and write reports, approve expenditures, develop and enforce standard practices. Recommend, plan and direct installation of new equipment. Communicate and collaborate with other managers and departments. Prepare and deliver engineering-related presentations as required.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering field
10+ years total experience, 5+ years management experience
Experience implementing manufacturing automation systems
Computer proficient; confident with data analysis programs
Problem solving skills with experience using root cause analysis techniques
Examples of new product production integration or significant operational improvement projects
Experience with project management, including budgeting
