JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director, Ontario Regulatory Affairs and the Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, the Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs is responsible for the internal and external strategy, reporting, filings, advice, and communications about regulatory matters.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the analysis of business units and corporate operations while determining requirements for regulatory filings;
- Point of contact internally for applications to economic regulators;
- Monitor and coordinate with business units in the preparation of regulatory material;
- Provide expertise and strategic direction on regulatory issues while identifying and mitigating major risks;
- Prepare and review all materials related to regulatory submission, including regulatory deferral and variance accounts, and assist in the preparation of witnesses for regulatory proceedings;
- Represent the organization in regulatory hearings, processes, and consultations;
- Provide regulatory oversight to business units on studies related to corporate or business unit operations;
- Provide recommendations on strategic direction for issues and materials about the regulated business;
- Develop and provide regulatory expertise related to the relationships between OPG and its affiliates;
- Develop, prepare and deliver internal communication plans to support regulatory filing; and
- Provide expert level regulatory support to business units in respect of electricity market issues, possibly including but not limited to reliability (FERC, NERC, NPCC, etc.), market monitoring (FERC), compliance (IESO), surveillance (MSP) and regulatory matters in other jurisdictions (Canadian and the US).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- University Degree or College Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field;
- Minimum ten years experience in regulatory affairs;
- Minimum 5+ years experience in a management role;
- Thorough understanding of accounting or finance reporting practices within a regulated organization or strong utilities experience with a thorough understanding of rate filings and rate regulations;
- Accounting designation (an asset); and
- Understanding of IFRS.
