The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nabraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.
We have recently embarked on a Digital transformation journey where we are reimagining the way we work and serve our users. Our projects benefit the community by aiding in providing safe, reliable electricity to everyone:
- Customer: create analytics to improve customer satisfaction along the customer journey for a lifetime as they move-in to a residence, pay their bill and move to new residences.
- Transmission & Distribution: develop algorithms to detect asset failures, reduce outages and provide reliable electricity to customers.
- Smart Meter: provide customers with the electric usage they need to make smart decisions about their home as well as reduce threats and theft in the electric system.
The design team is a newer and growing team so you will have the opportunity to help shape design at FirstEnergy!
What you'll do:
As a Designer at FirstEnergy you will design and deliver elegant product experiences as part of a cross-functional Agile product teams, more specifically:
- You will leverage design thinking, and clearly convey design process to internal team and clients
- You will use UI/UX design best practices and collaborate with other designers to problem solve design challenges and maintain a level of consistency and coherence across products
- You will actively collaborate with business / brand stakeholders throughout the design and development process
- You will help Product Owners define both long and short-term vision and roadmap for digital products
- You will conduct user research and generate insights to inform design solutions
- You will design interactive prototypes and design tests to validate customer needs using creative software that brings user-centric ideas to life (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Sketch, and others)
- You will work closely with the developers to provide design assets for development
What You Will Need to be Qualified:
Experience
- Level II - A Degree specialization in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), interaction design, or related field with 2 years related work experience is required. In lieu of a degree, you have 4 years of related experience.
- Level III - A Degree specialization in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), interaction design, or related field with 4 years related experience is required. In lieu of a degree, you have 6 years of related experience.
- Level IV - A Degree specialization in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), interaction design, or related field with 6 years related experience is required. In lieu of a degree, you have 8 years of related experience < >Related work experience includes, but it not limited to: experience with Agile and Scrum, digital agency, UI/UX design, mobile or web development, data visualization. - You are able to cover end-to-end process, i.e. plan/ drive research, lead workshops, stakeholder education, hands-on design, workflow & user interface, and work with development team to implement
- You have experience design and data visualization skills, including use of a diverse set of software (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Sketch, and others)
- You are assertive, with the confidence to be voice of authority and not afraid to do what is best for the team while bringing a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job
- You have excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills
- Preferably you have experience in managing/mentoring junior designers
- Preferably you have experience in the energy industry
