Position Purpose
This position independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in identifying and implementing enhancements, adaptations, and modifications to existing and/or new equipment and systems. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and will require investigation of a number of variables.
Required Education & Experience
ABET accredited Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application.
Job Description
Supervises exempt, non-exempt and bargaining unit personnel under the Supervisory Engineer career path.
Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
Plans and performs design, development and/or operating engineering assignments which includes responsibility for the engineering and construction of portions of major projects.
Coordinates the labor force assigned to each activity.
Coordinates activities of an assigned group with the various stages of an overall program.
Engineering assignments are broad in nature and incumbent will have the latitude of and the responsibility for unreviewed actions or decisions.
In some instances, incumbent will temporarily supervise or be assisted by personnel from engineering, technician, and craft levels.
Coordinates the activities of technicians, and/or others assigned to specific projects, as necessary.
Supports various distribution operations and maintenance groups with engineering-based troubleshooting, problem analysis, and resolution.
Assists with the development of operation center/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free workplace.
Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Directs the activities of cooperative interns, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc.
Performs other duties as directed by management.
