As a Regulatory Manager you will drive the business by managing the development and implementation of CenterPoint Energy's regulatory strategy. Assisting with the development and prosecution of rate and other regulatory filings. You will also assist in the legislative process. You will develop and maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies, other utilities, and industry associations on a regional basis. In addition, you will lead the coordination of efforts to develop the regulatory strategy and respond to commission request.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Manage the development and execution of regulatory policies and strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders that support CNP's corporate strategy, goals and objectives with participation of the appropriate CNP groups or departments.
- Develop and maintain positive relations with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Act as a primary liaison with those regulatory bodies and their staffs, other industry stakeholders, and counterparts at other jurisdictional utilities.
- Represent CNP's position in proceedings before regulatory bodies with jurisdiction over Company rates, tariffs, terms and conditions of service.
- Partner with a cross functional team for the development of recommendations to management for the need and timing of general rate cases and major filings to support CNP's corporate strategy, goals and objectives.
- Assist in the strategic execution of major rate filings working closely with a cross function team.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of miscellaneous and compliance filings, to ensure CenterPoint Energy's compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, laws and regulations.
- Maintain good working relationship with regulators, the consumer counselors, their staffs, internal colleagues including legal, government affairs, rates groups, and customers.
- Provide advice, counsel and consultation to regional management on key rate and regulatory matters that directly or indirectly impact CNP or its business environment.
- Direct, develop and support assigned employees in the performance of their essential duties and responsibilities.
- Be knowledgeable of the various regulatory recovery mechanisms and how they work.
- Additionally, in the Indiana/Ohio region: Support legislative policy, on behalf of CenterPoint Energy in collaboration with the legislative team. Assist with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulatory activity relating to gas matters including case monitoring and interventions.
Your background includes:
- A bachelor's degree.
- At least eight (8) years' experience working for a regulated utility or relevant work experience in the energy industry.
- At least four (4) years' experience in at least two of the following: Rates and regulatory matters, Creating and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies, Legal, rates, operations, sales and/or accounting experience in the energy industry or a working, knowledge of regulatory authorities, Rate and/or regulatory submissions, Direct interaction with regulatory authorities in Louisiana.
