Job Summary:
The Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful operations of the Compliance staff members and our Compliance program for Just Energy and its affiliated companies operating in North America. It is crucial for the company that the Compliance staff monitor and enforce compliance as it pertains to legal, regulatory and business rules. The manager will be responsible for staff member oversight and stakeholder reporting. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

    Oversee Compliance staff members. Ensure smooth operations of all day-to-day activities pertaining to all functions of the Compliance department.
    Manage successful accomplishment of all aspects related to Compliance staff members.
    Monitor workload volumes and delegate resources accordingly. Ensure productivity and quality targets are met and/or exceeded. 
    Monitor internal and external SLA's ensuring all SLA's are met and where possible exceeded.
    Prepare, facilitate and communicate training; as required, for new processes and/or changes to existing processes. Determine requirements for process changes and work with the applicable stakeholders on approvals and delivery.
    Conduct monthly Quality Assurance evaluations and one on ones.
    Manage team KPI's and ensure KPI's are met or exceeded, and appropriate action is taken on missed KPI's and opportunities.  Identify, communicate, document and monitor areas of opportunities of team members.
    Prepare reports for Management regarding Staff, trends and progress reports on action plans.
    Drive and manage successful completion of department objectives including but not limited to process improvement, audits, projects/assignments, reports, responses, calls, etc.
    Support team members with inquires, escalations and provide direction.
    Motivate and challenge staff including career development plans.
    Conduct quality checks/audits to ensure accuracy of processes and reports. Ensure processes are streamlined, efficient and documented.
    Proactively identify areas requiring improvement, recommend innovative improvement plans that impact the organization positively.
    Provide Staff with the required tools and training to be a high performing department adding value to the organization.
    Responsible for preparing and delivering mid-year and end of year appraisals.
    Track attendance and punctuality taking required action as applicable and approve/reject vacation requests based on business needs. 
    Conduct regular team meetings. Exhibit and enforce company rules, guidelines and pillars.
    Assist all members of the compliance team including Director as needed. 
    Escalate severe non-compliance issues for immediate action via escalation process.
    Conduct investigations and initiate protocols as necessary. 
    Responsible for recruiting. 
    Maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Key Requirements:

    At least 5 years of prior supervisory or management experience preferred. 
    At least 5 years of Compliance or Regulatory experience in the energy industry. 
    Experience in observing and reporting assurance relating to sales compliance in line with corporate, regulatory and legal standards, policies and practices

Skills and Abilities:

    Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to coach, manage performance, delegate, train and motivate for performance and quality.
    Results oriented with good decision-making skills. 
    Strong time management and organizational skills. 
    Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills including but not limited to root cause analysis, cause and effect, decision analysis, requirements and management analysis, benchmarking, fact finding, solution assessment and validation, risk analysis, interface analysis and enterprise analysis.
    Experience evaluating data sources for quality (e.g., validity, reliability, etc.).
    Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
    Excellent verbal/written communication; skilled in facilitation and presentation. 
    Ability to work flexible or extended working hours to meet business needs
    A valid driver's license and the ability to travel upwards of 50% of the time as required.
    Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
    Proven success in building and maintaining effective internal stakeholder relationships and strong negotiation skills.
    Must be able to respond flexibly to changing circumstances.
    Projects self-confidence, enthusiasm, and a positive, can-do attitude.
    Ability to self-start and work with a high sense of urgency and accountability with minimal supervision. 
    Judgment the individual displays willingness to make recommendations, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions and the ability to simplify complex problems.
