PREFERENCES

  • Familiarity with electric markets, electric generation and storage technologies, including operating and financial characteristics of resources
  • Strong abilities with MS Office, especially MS Excel
  • Strategic mindset, possess critical thinking skills, willingness to learn new concepts, self-motivated to take the initiative to understand how and why
  • Ability to multitask efficiently and deliver results on set schedule.
  • Familiarity with Utility Integrated Resource Planning
  • Experience with Capacity Expansion and/or Production Cost simulation software preferred
  • Strong understanding of electric reliability concepts such as Loss of Load Probability, Effective Load Carrying Capability and the software used to calculate these metrics
  • Understanding of power systems concepts including Steady State Analysis, Security Constrained Unit Commitment, Security Constrained Economic Dispatch, Power Flow Analysis, etc.
  • Experience with or understanding of regulated electric markets, the regulatory approval process, development of written testimony and cross examination
  • Familiarity with demand side management, transmission networks and interconnection processes, utility revenue requirements, power purchase agreements and energy storage agreement structures, electric load forecasting and associates statistical principles.
  • Strong analytical background, including experience with MS SQL Server, R, & Python and data mining concepts.
  • Expertise in analytical, problem solving and financial evaluation skills
  • Expertise in regulated utility financial operations including rate making, capital and cost recovery
  • Some experience working with state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Extensive knowledge of resource planning and system production costing modeling.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Expertise in power plant operations
  • Industry experience in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable resources
  • Experience in the fuels, transmission, forecasting or other department directly related to resource planning
  • Production cost modeling and/or expansion plan modeling for vertically integrated utilities
