Description
A Project Manager will manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of work on Burns & McDonnell T&D projects and programs. The Project Manager is responsible for the profit and loss of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and any other project stakeholder. The Project Manager may be required to support the California Offices in managing Global Practice efforts for Transmission & Distribution and supporting other Global Practice efforts in the area, overseeing project management, cost control and client satisfaction and support other miscellaneous tasks and responsibilities.

Provide overall management of projects from conception to completion.

Direct and coordinate activities of several disciplines on a project of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects.

Direct coordination with clients and other external clients.

Drive project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.

May initiate or assist in contract negotiations or preparation.

Assist in direction of project planning, budgeting, and establishing critical project objectives.

Help identify local opportunities and manage team efforts for submittals, proposals, presentations, contract negotiations and other related activities.

Provide senior-level input and evaluation on projects.

Support go/no-go evaluation, ensure establishment of project work plans and review fee estimates if needed.

Participate in project risk reviews if needed.

Provide professional support in local recruitment and assist in human resource related matters if needed.

Ensure local quality and safety standards. Adher to the Burns & McDonnell Quality Control Program.

Responsible for maintaining the local Burns & McDonnell Safety Program.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.

Minimum 10 years related experience, including 7 or more years managing engineering or architectural projects/programs/people in the Transmission & Distribution industry.

Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters.

Professional Registration preferred.

Demonstrated results in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.

Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.

Excellent planning and analytical skills.

Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.

Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.

Demonstrated ability to meet financial goals, project management, and recruitment goals.

Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.

Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Previous utility or consulting experience preferred.
