JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a qualified Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) Unrestricted Surface Supplied Divers to join our team in the role of Commercial Inspection & Maintenance Diver in our Wesleyville (Port Hope) location.
Reporting to the Front Line Manager, Diving Operations, Advanced Inspection Maintenance department., this position is responsible to execute work assigned, with adequate instruction, and work procedures at various generating stations and water control dams throughout Ontario. Knowledge of CSA Diving Standards and Occupational Health and Safety Act Diving regulations are essential. Also to prepare reports and retain appropriate documentation for audit/reference purposes. Carry out good housekeeping, emergency response and fire prevention practices. In this role you will be accountable for the health, high level of safety for well being of self and others.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsibilities are consistent with training and experience in commercial diving in an industrial setting in the maintenance, inspection and repair of underwater equipment and systems. In accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, perform all commercial diving duties:
- Maintain boating and marine safety licenses in accordance with Coastguard and Transport Canada regulations.
- Perform recovery operations in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Inspect, maintain and repair underwater equipment and systems, including seal gates, travelling screens, bar screens, gates and piping systems and structures, including concrete.
- Install, maintain and remove underwater systems, (eg, Fish Diversion Systems).
- Inspect, install, repair and remove all floating safety, security and ice booms/barriers and their associated anchoring systems.
- Clean debris such as wood, zebra mussels, etc., from intake structures
- Perform craning, hoisting and rigging operations related to the equipment used by the dive crews.
- Inspect, maintain and repair all diving operations equipment to regulatory requirements through approved manuals and procedures.
- Fabricate minor parts for equipment used by diving operations, involving welding and cutting of metal components and the like.
- Install, deploy, monitor and remove environmental monitoring equipment.
- Perform environmental sampling and monitoring, (ig, fish impingement monitoring, algae).
- Operate and maintain underwater remote operated vehicles.
- Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others as per established technical/operating procedures and standards, and includes the development of technical/operating procedures.
EDUCATION
- Grade 12, or equivalent
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking experienced Commercial Divers with the following:
- Valid and current Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver (mandatory)
- Inshore Diving experience with 150 logged hours of bottom time Inshore as a DCBC Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver (50 hours in last 2 years) (mandatory)
- Valid and current Diving Medical Certificate from an approved Doctor trained in Hyperbaric Medicine (mandatory)
- Valid and current First Aid, CPR and Diving Specific Oxygen Administration certificate (mandatory)
- Transport Canada CDN number (mandatory)
- Transport Canada Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A1 or Domestic Vessel Safety (DVS) basic certificate (mandatory)
- Pleasure Craft Operator's Certificate (mandatory)
- DCBC Dive Supervisor experience is an asset
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) certificate is an asset
- Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) experience, including 2 and 3D sonar or LiDAR is an asset
- Current Kirby Morgan Dive Systems Inc. Maintenance and Repair Technician certificate is an asset
- Flexibility to work shifts
- Travel throughout Ontario to work at temporary work headquarters
- Well developed analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to prepare detailed concise technical reports
- Good technical skills (Microsoft Office)
