Major Responsibilities:
-
Cultivate a deep understanding of ENMAX business operations to provide quality legal advice, identify legal risks, and advise on legal obligations and steps to protect ENMAX's interests

Develop timely and practical legal solutions for assigned client groups

Ensure all necessary steps are taken to successfully manage litigation and other related proceedings

Negotiate resolution of pre-litigation disputes and draft pleadings and correspondence as required
-
Develop relationships within the Legal Team and across the organization to ensure the effective delivery of legal support and advice to the business
-
Work collaboratively and strategically with external counsel where required
-
Assist with ongoing precedent development and process improvement
-
Review policies and advise on compliance with legal requirements
-
Keep current on key legislative updates, case law developments and inform the business and Legal Team as required
Education Required:
-
JD/LL.B. degree from an accredited law school
Qualifications & Experience:
-
Practicing member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
-
8+ years' post-call experience at a top-level firm and/or in-house litigation experience
-
Experience in one or more of the following specific areas is an asset:

Demonstrated ability to direct multiple litigation matters from beginning to end
