JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Nuclear Operator In Training.
This position is a training program to become a Nuclear Operator. Training can take up to 18 months to complete depending on the assigned stream.
Nuclear Operators are responsible for keeping the nuclear generating station running. They make rounds of their designated areas within the plant to check and maintain the operating status of equipment, complete routines and regular inspections and perform tests on equipment. Responsibilities of a Nuclear Operator may include:
Checking the status of equipment and systems to detect/assess problems and provide information to maintenance to assist in repairing equipment
Adhere to safety procedures to proactively prevent workplace accidents and immediately isolate and contain any problems that may arise
Document and record routine maintenance activities
Assist with testing functionality of equipment

To meet the challenges of this dynamic opportunity, you must: Successfully pass all formal examinations during the initial training period including Radiation Protection. You must also be prepared to work rotating shift work including days and nights on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform field operations and activities in accordance with approved procedures, under the supervision of a Supervising Nuclear Operator.
Involvement with commissioning, start-up, running and shutdown of various nuclear station systems.
Working safely with various types of equipment.
EDUCATION
You must meet at least one of the following education requirements:
1. Secondary School Diploma that includes Grade 12-U (university) preparation courses in mathematics and in physics and/or chemistry;
2. Secondary School Diploma plus a College Power Engineering Diploma (1, 2 or 3 year program)
3. Secondary School Diploma plus a four year University Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline
4. Secondary School Diploma plus a two or three year College Technician/Technologist Diploma in a program below (or the equivalent):

A minimum of 70% cumulative GPA in your qualifying program above is required. QUALIFICATIONS
Possess good communication skills (both verbal and written), consistent with Grade 12 English requirements
Have a valid Class G Ontario driver's license (or able to obtain one before the start of employment)
