General Summary

We are currently looking for a Operations Planning Engineer to support the GRE Control Center by providing planning and situational awareness guidance for the forward and real-time operations horizons.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support to the System Operations department to ensure the reliable and safe operation of GRE facilities.
  • Support GRE transmission system operation within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) footprint to meet forward and real-time operational planning requirements.
  • Provide technical support for regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in MISO and regional working groups as required.

 Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree (or advanced) in electrical engineering required or education required to qualify for the written Professional Engineering Examination as required by the State Board of Engineering, and typically 0-3 years of experience in an engineering or science related position.
  • Prefer 2+ years of experience in an engineering or science-related position within the utility or a related industry.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following technology is preferred:  EMS/SCADA, PSS/e, MAGE/CIM based software, Primavera Project Management, and Maximo asset management.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming preferred:  Python.
  • Knowledge of North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO), and Midcontinent ISO (MISO) standards related to operations planning.
  • Knowledge of engineering and science principals with power system emphasis.
  • Skill in developing and utilizing analytical techniques and computer applications.
  • Skill in effective verbal communication.
  • Skill of preparing complex written materials including presentations, reports, and correspondence to meet purpose and audience.
  • Ability to negotiate by collaborating with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to research, analyze and make recommendations related to engineering decisions.
