Summary:
AES Clean Energy (AESCE) is seeking an innovative and motivated individual to manage the NERC compliance efforts for AES's rapidly growing renewable energy portfolio. Under limited supervision, this role is primarily responsible for ensuring AESCE's ongoing compliance with all applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards. This position will be the primary compliance contact and advisor for the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on NERC standards. This position will have direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as the functional Leader with subject matter experts to develop and maintain written documentation of plans, programs, procedures, and other evidence necessary to comply with the requirements and measures of the NERC Reliability Standards
- Ensure that AES Clean Energy is compliant with all applicable mandatory standards
- Identifies process improvement opportunities based on incident investigations, root cause analysis, and industry best practice
- Serves as the functional Leader for AES Clean Energy mock audits
- Conduct Annual Spot Checks as part of the IPL Internal Compliance Program
- Assess compliance and operational risks associated with possible non-compliance issues
- Participate in industry forums and outreach activities
- Serves as the functional Leader for IPL regulatory audits conducted every 3 years
- Advise the NERC Compliance Officer with regards to NERC audit findings, potential needs for self-reporting, penalty negotiations, development of mitigation plans, and tracking of mitigation plans to completion as needed
- Provide guidance on interpreting the compliance regulations from a technical perspective at AES Clean Energy
Requirements:
- Four Year College degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years' experience managing personnel with responsibility for providing direction, development, and conducting performance assessments
- Ability to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and writing skills, technical and non-technical
- Motivated by desire to foster and support the AES culture of compliance
- Ability to quickly identify and adapt to changing priorities
- Experience with NERC Reliability Standards
- Experience in implementing and/or maintaining a compliance program
- Ability to work in a team environment
