PSE's Electric Operations team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Journey Level Wireman position!
Puget Sound Energy builds our Transmission and Distribution Substations from the Ground Up in House.
Room for Advancement to Inspector, Foreman and Relay Technician.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspect, operate, maintain and construct Distribution and Transmission Substations and various transmission, distribution and generation apparatus consistent with Puget Sound Energy practices and safety regulations.
- Direct the activities of others as assigned. Drive and operate all equipment used in substation work. Perform similar and incidental duties as required.
- Be responsible for time reporting and other reports as required.
- This position responds to emergencies and callouts, and contains some irregular work schedules and overtime hours to support 24-hour operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicant must have completed an electric utility wireman apprenticeship or its equivalent and be proficient in using tools and equipment of the trade on energized and de-energized systems.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting medium and high voltage Transformers, regulators and breakers.
- Experience with high voltage switching and obtaining an electrical clearance
- Experience constructing high voltage electrical substations
- Must have working knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity as it pertains to utility systems. Must have ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Must be knowledgeable and comply with all Company standards, policies, practices and procedures and State and Federal safety regulations as they pertain to the job.
- Must have working knowledge of safety regulations and must possess or obtain within thirty (30) working days after selection, a First Aid Certificate.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with the necessary endorsements. This position requires the applicant to have and maintain a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including the necessary endorsements and removal of the air brake restriction. Applicants will have 30 days to meet this requirement.
- Must possess a Crane Operators Certificate or be able to obtain one through company sponsored training program
Desired Qualifications
- Five Years as a Journey Level Wireman.
- Experience with Civil work including building foundations, operating equipment and installing duct banks.
