Purpose
The Senior Originator is a key member of the Avangrid Renewables US Origination team. This is an opportunity to join one of the country's leading renewable energy developers. The Originator will be responsible and accountable for developing and executing our renewable energy market strategy for load serving customers across the Eastern US region and national Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers.
Responsibilities
The Originator will, in addition to fulfilling other related responsibilities:
Originate new wind, solar PV, battery storage and other renewable energy opportunities for customers with varied needs.
Develop, maintain and expand key customer relationships with large public and investor owned utilities, electric cooperatives, public power entities and Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers.
Clearly communicate with both internal and external stakeholders the value of a proposed transaction
Negotiate offtake contracts with potential customers and coordinate contract development with internal stakeholders
Support the marketing of existing products and solutions and work with team to develop creative new products in response to customer needs.
Evaluate renewable energy demand in assigned market(s) and shape the strategic origination and marketing plan.
Convert market intel and research into actionable recommendations for project siting with the development team.
Work on multiple projects and transactions at any given time with multiple teams.
Develop and implement strategy around energy storage incorporating this technology into new product offerings specific to future customer needs
Work with the Origination analyst team to prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) responses to opportunities.
Skills and Requirements
4+ years of Renewable Origination experience or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience; MBA preferred.
Demonstrated success closing renewable energy deals.Experience and utility / C&I relationships in PJM, MISO and/or SPP a plus. Knowledge of Eastern electric power markets including familiarity with national organized markets
A network of contacts within the energy market (Eastern US utilities and C&I)
Ability to collaborate with various cross functional teams to build consensus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Capable of quickly learning new subject matter, customer type or technology
Customer and solution focused
Ability and willingness to travel through the United States following relaxation of Covid 19-restrictions
