Become a Legal Support Senior Advisor on the e-Discovery Team at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will report to the Director and Managing Attorney of the Claims and General Litigation Section in the Southern California Edison Law Department.  The eDiscovery Senior Advisor is an integral member of and mentor for the eDiscovery Team and oversees the team's day-to-day operations. The eDiscovery Team at Southern California Edison provides support to the Law Department's in-house and outside counsel throughout the entire eDiscovery lifecycle of a case.  The eDiscovery Team identifies, preserves, and collects electronically stored information (ESI) for litigation, regulatory proceedings, and investigations.  The eDiscovery Team sends collected data to the Law Department's preferred eDiscovery vendors for processing, culling, and hosting in Relativity for attorney review.  The eDiscovery Team partners with counsel and eDiscovery vendors to ensure documents are searched, reviewed, and produced timely and accurately.

  • Oversee all eDiscovery operations for the Law Department, including coordinating the workload and activities of members of the eDiscovery Team
  • Set priorities, develop protocols, and maintain logs to track project progress and workflow
  • Assist in-house and outside counsel with document preservation, processing, searches, review, and production
  • Provide day-to-day management of individual projects
  • Provide support throughout the eDiscovery lifecycle, including:
    • Identification: Assist in-house and outside counsel with custodian interviews
    • Preservation:  Send and track legal hold notices using Legal Hold Pro
    • Collection: Conduct custodial data collections using Microsoft Office 365 Security & Compliance Center, and collect data from SAP and other databases and systems
    • Processing: Send data to eDiscovery vendors for processing and culling
    • Culling:  Assist attorneys with developing search terms and perform validation of search term reports (STRs) created by vendors
    • Review:
      • Communicate to eDiscovery vendor Relativity review layout preferences and revisions
      • Coordinate with eDiscovery vendor document review managers to conduct contract attorney document reviews
      • Advise in-house and outside counsel on using Technology Assisted Review (TAR) where appropriate
    • Production: Oversee and QC eDiscovery vendor activities to ensure documents are produced timely and accurately.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • 10 years of eDiscovery experience assisting with and managing eDiscovery projects in a law firm, in-house law department, or eDiscovery service provider.  This experience may have been gained through different job titles, including attorney, paralegal, or eDiscovery project manager
  • A thorough understanding of the eDiscovery process and lifecycle; must be able to manage all aspects of each step in an eDiscovery project without intervention by more senior staff
  • Experience and proficiency with searching and exporting data from Microsoft Office 365 Security & Compliance Center
  • Experience and proficiency with Relativity
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a project plan in coordination with assigned attorney 

The preferred 

  • Experience with collecting ESI from myriad sources, including mobile devices, databases, and Microsoft Teams
  • eDiscovery certifications, such as Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) or Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS)
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of internal resources (technical staff, project managers, technical and eDiscovery vendors, attorneys and paralegals)
  • Ability to provide training to attorneys and paralegals on Relativity and other tools
  • Ability to interact effectively with different levels of client contacts
  • Ability to provide direction and motivation in day-to-day project activities.
  • Strong client service skills, planning, organization, analytic and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented, proactive, self-directed, responsive, and able to juggle multiple assignments

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an EIX facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
