Reporting to the Manager, Media & Public Relations, the Digital Communications Specialist, Contract is responsible for supporting the development of accessible digital content for Toronto Hydro's external website. The incumbent demonstrates expertise in web accessibility best practices and user experience design. In addition, the incumbent possesses strong written communications skills.
The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the writing and development of digital content, primarily for Toronto Hydro's external website
Provides advice and guidance on digital accessibility best practices, user experience and content design for the development of new website content and customer-facing digital tools and applications
Represents the Media and Public Relations team on company-wide customer experience and digital improvement projects
Ensures digital content is accessible and meets Toronto Hydro's brand and style guidelines
Supports the digital team with analytics, as required
REQUIREMENTS:
University degree or College Diploma in Communications or a related field
Five (5) or more years of digital communications experience
Experience with developing accessible digital content
Demonstrated understanding of user experience design principles, including user flows and wireframes
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) certification considered an asset
Strong project management, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Highly developed editing and writing skills.
Diplomacy, tact and excellent knowledge of the industry and Toronto Hydro
Ability to deal positively with a broad spectrum of internal and external clients, fostering co-operative and collaborative customer-focused working relationships.
Experience working with content management systems and knowledge management principles
Depth of experience with all Microsoft software
