JOB OVERVIEW
OPG is looking for qualified candidates to join our Maintenance team in the role of Electrical and Control Technician - Electrician with openings located in Durham Region.
As a TERM employee for Ontario Power Generation you will be a member of Canadian Union of Skilled Workers (CUSW) hiring hall and will be supporting the long-term life of the Pickering Generating Station. You will receive an attractive wage and benefit package through CUSW.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks and actively participate in the periodic teardown and internal inspection of major equipment and sub components.
- Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain and overhaul and assist with the design for all electrical/ electronic/control/protection/telecommunication or testing equipment, associated with generating stations and facilities.
- Prepare electrical, control, instrumentation, protection and telecommunication sketches, drawings, and bills of material.
- Carry out a variety of measurements including testing of electrical equipment to recognized standards and procedures.
- Determine generating system reliability and power system production.
- Participate in studies associated with energy production, load and capacity, demand management, etc., and provide regular and on-demand reports. Establish and maintain documentation / program files.
- Provide technical support, advice, coordination and assistance with regard to emerging work, projects and daily routines, including the development of technical/operational solutions to problems.
EDUCATION
- Grade 12 or equivalent
QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a valid Certificate of Qualification (309A or 442A). Crane experience as an asset;
- Successfully pass all formal examinations during the initial training period including Radiation Protection;
- Be prepared to work a rotating 12-hour shift, including weekend and holidays;
- Have exceptional problem solving abilities;
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Have a high comfort level with computers;
- If applicable, have Canadian equivalency of foreign education; and
- Be eligible to work in Canada;
- Strong commitment to Safety, Environmental Compliance, and Plant Reliability;
- Proven organizational skills, high work standards, strong technical abilities and personal accountability;
- Ability to maintain excellent records and documentation control;
- Experience with reading and interpreting measuring tools, graphs, and technical manuals;
- Experience in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in maintaining PLC systems;
- Ability to work at height and in confined spaces.
- Ability to operated equipment such as forklift and elevated work platform.
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures and environments.
- Strong computer skills
- Hold a G class drivers licence in good standing
