JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking energetic candidates to join our Maintenance team as Electronics Technicians, with openings at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, 40 km east of Toronto, along Lake Ontario.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to Ontario Power Generation's continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.

As a TERM employee for Ontario Power Generation you will be a member of Canadian Union of Skilled Workers (CUSW) hiring hall and will be supporting the long-term life of the Pickering Generating Station.  You will receive an attractive wage and benefit package through CUSW.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

An Electronics Technician performs work such as troubleshooting, repair, installation, and predictive/preventive maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and electronics equipment.

  • Prepare electrical, control, instrumentation, protection and telecommunication sketches, drawings, and bills of material.
  • Assist in the design of computer programs as required for the efficient operation of the station.
  • Carry out a variety of measurements including testing of electrical, control and protection equipment to recognized standards and procedures.
  • Determine generating system reliability and power system production. Develop and maintain supplementary computer programs to facilitate analysis.
  • Provide technical support, advice, coordination and assistance with regard to emerging work, projects and daily routines, including the development of technical/operational solutions to problems. 

EDUCATION

  • Have a minimum Grade 12 education; and
  • Have a two to three year community college diploma in Electronics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a two or three year diploma in Electronics;
  • Successfully pass all formal examinations during the initial training period including Radiation Protection;
  • Be prepared to work a rotating 12-hour shift, including weekend and holidays;
  • Have exceptional problem solving abilities;
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have a high comfort level with computers;
  • If applicable, have Canadian equivalency of foreign education; and
  • Be eligible to work in Canada
