Summary
The Engineering Analyst thru Analyst Sr. is accountable for providing analytical and technical support to the East DOC organization. The Analyst role supports the objectives of the organization generally through the development and administration of processes that will track projects throughout the life-cycle; records administration, organization and retention; and other general data management and reporting needs.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent will:
- Comply with Oncor's safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- assist in developing innovative, proactive solutions to improve system reliability.
- Perform event investigations and create reports for Regulatory/PUC, Claims, Management, and Operators.
- Develop and maintain substation and feeder contingency plans to ensure loading guidelines are sustained and optimal feeder performance.
- Maintain ERCOT short supply plans load shed and under frequency feeder lists.
- Coordinator for the DOC in the System Emergency Service drills.
- Assist in the development of the System Operating Procedures and serve on the SOP team.
- Provides analytical support during storms and other system contingencies (includes call-out rotation).
- Compiles and summarizes information necessary for operational planning and root cause analysis.
- Works in partnership with other Oncor departments to leverage skillsets to develop tools and systems which will enable Oncor to consistently improve on decision making processes
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Education, Experience, & Skills
Engineer Analyst
The minimum education and experience:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required with 3 - 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry or computer science fields.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 2 - 4 years of electric utility experience is preferred.
Engineer Analyst Sr.
The minimum education and experience:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required with 7-10 years of experience in the electric utility industry or computer science fields.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 5-8 years of electric utility experience is preferred.
The minimum skills:
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to express ideas and concepts in individual or group situations.
- Demonstrated organization skills, especially with regard to information management.
- Effective analytical skills to provide actionable information from data.
- Effective critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.
- Ability to learn new methods, techniques and software as needed to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to establish trust and commitment in building inter-organizational relationships and communications to achieve goals, includes contributor role on the project team that will proactively collaborate with key stakeholders.
- Effective creation and delivery of presentations and informative reports.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, other technical and data management expertise a plus.
