Contribute to the grid of the future! ISO New England's Operations Training & Procedures (OTP) group is integral to the development of training, processes and procedures that ISO System Operators use to effectively manage and operate the Bulk Electric System. The OTP group is seeking a unique individual; a highly motivated team player, who is a demonstrated fast learner, is detail oriented and thorough, and has the desire to multi-task in order to excel at the various roles required of this position, which include, but are not limited to:
- Operations Trainer
- Operations Training Simulator Operator
- Operations Business Analyst
This position is expected to lead the development and modification of operating procedures as well as analyze training needs, develop associated training materials, perform and coordinate training, and maintain training records.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Leading the development and modification of the full suite of operating documents including presenting at external committees, as assigned
- Participating in all phases of the Systematic Approach to Training in support of the various OTP Training programs, as assigned, including, but not limited to, ISO-NE System Operator Initial & Continuing Training, Operations Support Staff Training, Resource Operator OP-14 Training (ROOT), WEM-101, and ISO-101
- Analyzing the training needs of the trainees included within the various OTP Training programs
- Designing and developing training materials using a variety of instructional media for use in a variety of settings, including simulation environments
- Implementing training in a variety of settings, including classrooms, computer-based settings, and simulation environments
- Evaluating training courses and programs in order to identify areas for improvement as well as best practices
- Collaborating with the training staffs of NPCC Control Areas and New England Local Control Centers to deliver joint and coordinated training
- Collaborating with OTP and Control Room staff to review and update Control Room Operator tasks when necessary to ensure compliance with NERC Standard PER-005-2 requirements
- Documenting and maintaining training records for audit and compliance purposes
- Participating as a contributing member of the OTP Training Advisory Committee (TAC)
- Participating as a part of internal and external training committees and technical working groups
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Bulk Electric System operations knowledge/experience strongly desired
- Detail oriented and ability to be flexible and quickly adapt with changing priorities and schedules
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
