Install, operate, maintain and test Transmission and Distribution Substation equipment and Distribution circuit equipment. Including but not limited to power circuit breakers, service restorers, regulators, transformers, relays, motors, batteries, battery chargers and distribution SCADA controls. Maintain, refurbish, inspect and test transmission and distribution apparatus, protective equipment and tools. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

-Must be a high school and/or trade school graduate or equivalent.

-Must have successfully completed an approved State or Federally recognized electrician apprenticeship.

-Must have four years experience as a High Voltage Substation Electrician.

-Must possess a good knowledge of utility safety procedures.

-Must have a demonstrated ability to absorb formal training and schooling.

-Must be able to perform any and all phases of construction and maintenance work on transmission and/or distribution substations.

-Must be able to climb wooden poles and steel structures and perform heavy manual labor.

-Must be familiar with protective relaying, power transformers and regulators.

-Successfully pass pre-acceptance Company administered aptitude and skills tests.

-Pass a pre-placement physical examination and DOT drug screen.

-Have a valid California Driver-s License.

-Must attain and maintain a valid Class A California Driver-s License.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) have adopted regulations governing the control of drug use by persons in certain job classifications. This job is covered by that regulation (49 CFR 199) and candidates will be tested for the presence of prohibited drugs and must meet DOT standards before appointment to the job. Once in the job, Federal Highway Code (391) requires random drug and alcohol testing for this position.
