Primary Purpose:
Performs specific accounting, regulatory, reporting and financial analysis assignments including preparation of complex financial reports and related analysis with guidance from principal staff, supervisor and/or manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently prepares and manages external compliance reports for the California Utilities and Corporate Center.
- Creates, modifies and maintains all general ledger accounts for all companies.
- Prepares bank account reconciliations for Utilities, and Corporate Center.
- Reviews bank account reconciliations for Utilities and Corporate Center Serves as a lead professional related to state filings, General Ledger maintenance and accounting assignments in their areas of knowledge.
- Performs technical duties related to software requirements.
- Recommends accounting, and compliance treatment for new and existing operations, regulations and laws.
- Responds to inquiries of senior management, external departments, government agencies, and internal and external auditors.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting, finance, economics or related business administration field required.
- CPA, CMA, MBA and/or other professional certificates/advanced degrees.
Experience:
- 3+ years experience in public and /or professional accounting or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience in the electric and/or gas utility industry a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products such as Exchange, PowerPoint, etc. also a plus.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively interact in a team environment.
