JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a results driven Engineer to join our Renewable Generation team in the role of Civil Structural Engineer at our Bath, ON location.
Reporting to the Engineering manager, the Civil Structural Engineer will provide technical support to modifications and construction for thermal and hydroelectric generating stations in Bath and Campbellford, ON.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform work involving structural design, engineering condition assessment, inspections, investigations, and evaluations of hydrodelectric structures such as dams, powerhouses and buildings.
- Preparation of drawings, technical specifications, assessment reports and scope of work documents related to civil rehabilitation projects.
- Assist in review and preparation of proposals related to civil design.
- Assist in review and approval of engineering drawings and documentation
- Perform the role of OPG Owner's Engineer, recognize technical deficiencies, recommend remedial measures, review and approve engineering documents to the best of OPG's interest and compliance with applicable codes and standards..
- As a technical expert in civil/structural analysis provide advice, guidance, consultation and services to engineering problems including:
- civil/structural engineering matters related to projects;
- stability analysis of concrete structures associated with hydroelectric & thermal generation ;
- equipment/ machine support/ foundation issues including, interpretation of monitoring results;
- rock foundation/concrete dam interface issues;
- assessment, design and rehabilitation of bridges, access roads and drainage
- seismology, earthquake engineering & structure dynamics;
- Respond to emergencies, structural failures or unsatisfactory performance, conduct field investigations, prepare technical reports and recommend actions.
EDUCATION
- 4 year university degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (or equivalent) considered an asset
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of relevant industry experience with sound knowledge in the areas of analysis and design of Steel and Concrete Structures.
- Experience with Hydroelectric Power Plant is a highly desirable assest;
- Experience and knowledge of major design codes and standards such as NBC, OBC, and CSA associated with steel and concrete structures;
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize in short and medium term and to prepare and meet budget and schedule commitments;
- Demonstrated effective interfacing and collaboration with key stakeholders;
- Experience with advising and coaching staff on applicable processes, procedures and engineering work;
- Demonstrated effective ability to manage multiple priorities and to influence others;
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
- Experience using AutoCAD is a must; experience with Solid Works is an asset;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OH&S Act and Regulations, specifically for Industrial Establishments;
- Results oriented with high integrity.
- Valid Class G Ontario driving license (or equivalent) in good standing.
