Summary
The Reactor Service Maintenance Technician assists in performing reactor head disassembly/reassembly activities, fuel handling activities, and dry cask storage activities. The Reactor Services Technician is responsible for basic aspects of power plant mechanical maintenance. Experience performing reactor vessel disassembly and reassembly, dry fuel storage, rigging, crane operation, and equipment preventative maintenance work while not required is highly desirable. The ability to function as part of a team in performing high quality maintenance and repair of nuclear plant equipment and ability to perform independent work is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Understand and follow all applicable safety and environmental policies
Perform on-line maintenance activities, including shared resource support of online work in the fleet (Dry Fuel Campaigns, New Fuel Receipt)
Support outage execution at home station and provide shared resource support of fleet outages
Read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, work orders, and/or plans
Maintain good housekeeping standards on a continual basis and ensure no reportable incidents regarding housekeeping occur within the area of responsibility
Develop proficiency in the proper use of refueling equipment
Utilize the corrective action program, clearance program, and the work order processing system
Working Conditions:
Work extended hours and various shifts in support of outages and online work
Work in Radiologically Controlled Area requiring various degrees of RP dress
Work in Respirators and/or PAPR's
Climbing ladders and stairs
Working at heights
Basic/Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
Two (2) years of previous nuclear maintenance or refueling experience working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience in Reactor Head disassembly/reassembly activities
Prior experience in Fuel Handling activities
Prior experience in Dry Cask Storage Activities
Prior experience in rigging and lifting
Electrical work experience
Demonstrated leadership ability
Demonstrated diagnostic and analytical skills
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills (e-mail applications, word processes, spreadsheets, database, etc.)
Specific Requirements:
Requires travel to support Fleet Outages and Dry Cask Campaigns (25-50%)
Obtain and Maintain qualifications necessary to disassemble and reassemble a nuclear reactor
Obtain and Maintain qualifications necessary to move nuclear fuel and nuclear fuel components
Obtain and Maintain ability to use Respirators and/or PAPR's during work execution
