Job Description
This position provides leadership and guidance to Electric Distribution Operations personnel by providing real-time outage strategies. Monitors the real-time status of the distribution electric system and reports information to internal and external departments. Provides operations oversight during normal and emergency situations. Requires being on a 7/24 hour rotating shift work schedule, including weekends and holidays and on call during off-shift hours.
- Provide technical guidance for planned and unplanned electrical outages by providing real-time outage strategies to the Electric Distribution Operators and District leadership. - Manage planned outages, unplanned/forced electrical outages, emergencies and system stress, to minimize customer impact and limit risk, including writing contingency plans. - Support executive and customer communication for electrical outages. - Review and edit outage documentation and reporting. - Assist in post-outage reviews, unintended feeder operation analysis, and manage system enhancement. - Assist in daily activities for supervision of Distribution System Operators.
- Develop training requirements and material for Technical Support Team and Distribution System Operators.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree, preferably in electrical engineering is required, or equivalent training and/or experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer highly desirable. Requires a minimum of three years of operational experience. Must have knowledge of electrical theory and electric utility operations normally acquired through college level course and/or an equivalent education, training and experience. Must possess the ability to adapt and multi-task in a rapidly changing environment and be able to perform effectively under emergency and high-pressure situations. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be aware or become proficient in MS Office Suite, Oracle's Network Management System (NMS), SCADA systems, OSIsoft (PI), Engineering Data Warehouse, Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Electric Reliability database. Must be familiar with SDG&E's service territory and understand safe electric construction work practices and procedures.
