Job Responsibilities
- Achieve business outcomes around customer satisfaction, outreach, and customer education by creating a comprehensive 12-month content strategy.
- Create compelling content that provides context for customers and communities of the company's purpose-driven strategy.
- Create content for a broad audience, as well as, audience-specific content for strategically identified audiences and stakeholders that can be shared by third-party partners in newsletters, web sites, etc. to reach their memberships.
- Monitor media for key or assigned topics; recommends responses to insert the company into the story and leverage media pitching, news release development and social media, as appropriate.
- Evaluate content and channel effectiveness and implement new approaches and strategies to improve engagement. Use data to refine personas for each channel to create a strong foundation for content strategy.
- Create short- and long-term editorial plans that demonstrate deep understanding of public perceptions and industry issues. Weigh risks and complexity of external factors in guiding and influencing message development.
- Consider competing and changing priorities, resources, and time demands to produce plans that are realistic and achievable.
- Provide solutions to possible roadblocks by proactively raising concerns and addressing.
- Evolve, improve, and update content when needed based on trends and content performance. Align content and overall voice with corporate brand guidelines.
- Provide support to internal teams and assist in developing key messages specific for various channels and campaigns.
- Select appropriate channels to maximize content delivery.
- Work as part of a team to create and execute external communication strategies.
Job Qualifications
Preferred Experience and Education
- Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field preferred
- Master's Degree Communications or related field preferred
- 5 years of experience in external communication and/or media relations preferred.
- 5 years of experience editing and writing for an external audience or news outlet preferred.
- Prior experience and expertise with Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
- Knowledge of content management strategy and execution.
- Excellent writing skills in English with a working knowledge of AP Style
- Knowledge of online content management platforms and social media best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively inside and outside the organization to ensure high quality content
- Ability to write content designed to connect with a variety of key stakeholders across a variety of styles including
- brand journalism, advertising copy, informational/educational tools and more.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive work environment.
