We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Distribution System Planning to join our team of passionate engineers. Our team is responsible for assessing the short-term and long-term impact of system load growth, new customer connections and new technologies on the electrical grid. Then develop specific projects that maintain capacity and reliability on the system.
You will play a major role in developing and implementing strategies, processes and tools for the modernization of planning functions for the ENMAX Power Distribution and Network electrical system. Along with providing mentorship and guidance to other team members.
Major Responsibilities:

Assess and determine the future development of the EPC Distribution and Network system in the best interests of EPC customers.

Develop new and maintain existing planning processes, tools and standards.

Accountable for Planning Cycle deliverables including:

Load forecast
-
System assessment
-
Project justification and project scope development
-
System development plan
-
Accountable for the identification and development of substation capacity upgrade projects.

Evaluate customer connections and determine the system changes required to allow the customer connections.
-
Steward programs and projects from ideation to completion.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a group of professionals (engineers and technologists)

Assist in regulatory undertakings as required
Education Required:
-
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
-
P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscientists in Alberta (APEGA)
Qualifications & Experience:
-
10 years' experience in a distribution utility environment
-
Sound engineering and operational knowledge of distribution utility systems

Ability to forecast electrical load at a system level, assess system constraints and plan the electrical system

Ability to perform data analysis, specifically, regression analysis, time series analysis and Monte Carlo simulation, to drive prediction, generate meaningful insight and determine risk

Ability to use CYME software for load flow studies on a radial system and a secondary network system
