Job Brief

The Successful Candidate will be responsible for design, planning, and administration of the SRP Employees' 401(k) Plan and other assigned employee benefit plans, including government compliance, budgeting, and maintenance of applicable plan documents/agreements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops criteria against which to evaluate 401(k) Plan benefit plan performance, and makes recommendations to management as appropriate.
  • Works closely with Analysts on the Benefits team to implement retirement programs and ensure compliance.
  • Analyzes operational issues and problems, and initiates corrective strategies and actions. Synthesizes, interprets, and applies proposed or enacted legislation and industry trends involving assigned benefit plans.
  • Monitors assigned benefit plans' participation to track activity, identify trends, and develop/design communication strategies.
  • Oversees and conducts employee communications for assigned benefit plans, including development of various letters and forms.
  • Interfaces with benefit plan participants, explains plan provisions and facilitates desired participant actions.
  • Maintains required plan documents, participant records, and associated written procedures for administering assigned benefit plans.
  • Ensures legal compliance of assigned benefit plans by performing applicable tests and fulfilling disclosure requirements.
  • Oversees preparation of annual tax filings - forms 5500 with exhibits.
  • Coordinates necessary changes to production and non-production system applications supporting assigned benefit plans.
  • Negotiation skills are desirable

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.  Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of 3 years experience at Level 2, is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

  • Ability to plan, monitor, and adjust budgets for welfare plans representing several million dollars. Knowledge of accounting principles necessary to develop and monitor recordkeeping and administrative systems.

  • Skilled in oral and written communications, including the ability to develop and market programs.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations, including employee information systems and personal computer applications (strong excel skills are preferred).
  • Knowledge of sound, effective customer service techniques that create "win-win" programs and resolutions.
  • Knowledge of SRP, professional, federal, and state guidelines concerning employee benefits.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts and analysis preferred.
