Job Summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Business Partner to support Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT.

This role serves as an advisor to management and employees providing information to ensure company human resources programs, policies and procedures are administered in an effective, consistent and legal manner.

  • Identifies human resources needs for assigned groups within the business unit.
  • Collaborates and works with management and others in human resources community to develop strategies and plans to address needs identified and to integrate human resources strategies and plans with business strategies and plans.
  • Coordinates administration of broad array of human resources programs such as succession and workforce planning, transfer/relocation policy interpretation, staffing/position posting system, performance management, compensation/salary administration and pay for performance processing, leadership training, Intern programs, etc.
  • Provides tools to address a wide variety of complex HR issues and initiatives including compliance, employee relations, investigations, equitable and consistent treatment of employees, change management and problem resolution.
  • Develops and maintains a solid working knowledge of the key dynamics affecting plant operations, including external market factors, financial issues/measurements, mission, vision and values, local labor market issues and socioeconomic factors.
  • Assumes a pro-active, solution oriented, "can do", customer-focused approach that involves significant internal customer interaction, individual and team development and coaching of employees and management.
  • May gather and compile data, perform analysis and make recommendations.
  • May provide interpretation of union contract to line management and attend and participate in grievance process by providing input and advice to management and employees.
  • May work on HR initiatives or project teams.

 Note:  Some relocation assistance may be available for the successful candidate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Minimum of 3+ years proven track record of increasing responsibility in pro-active, value added human resources positions in fast paced environments.   (Note:  A Master's degree will count towards one year of experience; Six months of experience will be rounded up to one year of experience)
  • Strong working knowledge of performance management, employee relations, compensation and staffing trends and practices.
  • Ability to build strong partnerships, through teamwork, and open communication with management, employees and within HR.
  • Solid coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution skills.
  • Solid analytical and verbal/written communications skills.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, programs, procedures and relevant government regulations.
  • Ability to multi-task, exercise independent judgment and decision-making.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be creative and flexible, and able to shift priorities quickly.
  • Familiar with Ct. State employment laws including FML preferred but not required.
  • Technology skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications and SAP (or similar) a plus.
  • Preference for a SHRM/HRCI certification (SPHR/PHR or SHRM-SCP/CP).
  • Must be able to clear Nuclear Access Background screening.
  • Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Education Requirements

BS degree in HR, Industrial Relations, Business or other related major.  Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Preferred: SHRM/HRCI certification (SPHR/PHR or SHRM-SCP/CP).
