About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]

This position's base reporting location is in Wadsworth Township, Ohio and reports to the Supervisor of Cyber Security.

The NERC CIP Compliance Specialist (Cyber Security Policy Analyst) will develop, maintain and support the FirstEnergy NERC CIP compliance program, protecting the Bulk Electric System. Successful candidates for this position enjoy merging business objectives with compliance program requirements ensuring useful and secure systems.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as the standard-level subject matter expert for the technical NERC CIP standards such as CIP-005, CIP-007, CIP-010, and CIP-011
  • Develop and lead the implementation of new or enhanced technical-related NERC CIP standards
  • Provide leadership and advice to FirstEnergy business units on the development and execution of procedures to support NERC CIP compliance
  • Support FirstEnergy's overall compliance with NERC CIP
  • Interact with other FirstEnergy Business Units on policy, compliance, and regulatory issues relating to cyber and information security
  • A strong ability to read interpretively and to write clearly and concisely is required for this position

Qualifications include:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or similar discipline. A degree in another field in conjunction with significant, relevant industry experience in cyber/information security or compliance will be considered.
  • Minimum of seven years of professional work experience in compliance-related positions such as NERC CIP, SOx, etc. Less direct experience with compliance programs combined a strong history of professional IT Operations and security will be considered
  • Effective communication skills which includes creating and delivering presentations, briefs, and training sessions. Must compose well-written, professional documents and reports with minimal editorial and proofing support.
  • Translate technical output from systems and assessment tools into understandable reports and action plans
  • Work effectively with people at varying levels within an organizational hierarchy to accomplish tasks and goals
  • Work independently within a set of objectives, procedures, and parameters to accomplish project tasking. Able to lead ad-hoc project task teams and other workgroups to accomplish project tasks, resolve issues, and lead/communicate important changes.
  • Ability to travel on a frequent basis to other FirstEnergy buildings in the Akron area. Infrequent overnight business travel to locations throughout the FirstEnergy service territory (OH, PA, NJ, MD, WV) will be required of this position.
  • Holding a security-related certification such as a CISSP, GIAC GSEC, GIAC GSNA, etc. is preferred.
