Job Description

Position Summary
Responsible for administration of WGL's benefits programs, including health and welfare, Retirement and Pension.
Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Presents benefit programs to Leaders, HR teams, Managers and employees
  • Manages, investigates and corresponds to employees regarding escalated benefit issues and concerns
  • Proactive in identifying, monitoring and correcting processes and procedures impacting benefit administration or employee benefit programs
  • Validates benefit programs through reporting, cost analysis and specializing in Retirement Plan administration
  • Facilitates in the open enrollment, financial workshops and wellbeing processes and activities, including HRIS program changes, updating communications, drafting annual rate sheet and ensuring rates are updated in system.
  • Collaborates with HRIS and third-party providers to ensure current and new programs are tested, updated prior to implementation
  • Primary contact with internal and external partners for oversight, escalations and day to day operational issues or compliance; assists with audit responses and requests for data specializing in Retirement Plans
  • Subject matter expertise for all benefit programs for inquiries: Health and Welfare, Leaves of Absence, PTO, EAP and Retirement and pensions
  • Ensures that WGL's benefits programs are administered in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Reconciles and processes benefit and retirement invoices and monthly pensions for payment (as needed)
  • Assists with the RFP processes, implementations and internal and external vendor or system changes

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, human resources or related field required
5+ Years in employee benefits administration, pension administration or benefits accounting required
Self-insured benefits program administration experience preferred
Experience processing complex benefits issues including Explanation of Benefits, Contracts, Service level agreements for reconciliations, validations and account coding preferred
Experience with HR information systems and reporting
Experience responding to, or assisting with, 5500 audits and non-discrimination testing
Experience with Workday preferred
Experience with Adobe Writer preferred
CBP/CEBS certification or CBP/CEBS coursework preferred
Demonstrated working knowledge of benefit laws and regulations, including ACA requirements, ERISA and Section 125 Cafeteria plans, etc.
Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, and peers
Demonstrated ability to present ideas logically and concisely to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks successfully work in a group environment
Demonstrated aptitude for analytics and problem solving
Demonstrated successful ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing tasks and meet numerous internal and external deadlines
Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Office365applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), to share, retrieve, research and present business information
